In just a few days the home of electronic music, Chicago, will erupt once again as thousands of kandi clad ravers fill the streets anticipating another wild weekend. Spring Awakening 2016 is here and if that isn't exciting enough, this year marks the festival's five year anniversary. Every year the festival has been held at Soldier Field but this year Copa América needed to occupy the stadium creating a conflict for React Events. The festival was said to be moved to the city's famous Jackson Park, but after another conflict, the location was mysteriously taken down from the festivals website. This left those who had booked flights and purchased tickets in distress. Spring Awakening released a statement giving festival goers peace of mind and soon after the new location was released. This year the festival will take place in Addams/Medill Park which is located in the west side of Chicago.

Spring Awakening Music Festival 2016

While the festival will leave behind its iconic location it will not leave behind its loyal fan base and support system that brings unmatched energy. The sold-out event will embrace its new grounds taking advantage of the grassy landscape and outdoorsy appeal. For starters, partner Vita Coco is hosting a 3-story tall Beachside Slide that will be located to the right of the second largest of the four stages. Slide the night away because this bad boy is free to use. Thankfully the weather will be blazing all weekend so you can dry off after making the plunge. Because of the more spacious layout of the park, Spring Awakening will also be able to host other rides like a Ferris Wheel which will also be free for ticket holders. To keep things interesting, there will be two branded stages on each day. On Friday, the Body Language stage will feature house artists Claptone and The Magician. The second branded stage, Bass Kitchen will be bringing heavy feels with names like Datsik and Alison Wonderland. Saturday brings The Bird House hosted by Dirtybird head honcho Claude VonStroke as well as the Trance Arena stage featuring Cosmic Gate and ATB. On the last day, legend Pete Tong will bring All Gone, Pete Tong to Chicago featuring Maya Jane Coles and Green Velvet.

Must-See Sets at Spring Awakening

16-year-old Chicago native is making an appearance on Sunday throwing down sick and original remixes. This young producer is definitely on the rise after being featured in DJ Mag U.S.A's latest print issue and reaching over ten million SoundCloud plays in just one year.

Claude VonStroke

House master and owner of DIRTYBIRD Records, Claude VonStroke, is going to own The Bird House stage this Saturday, hosting a handful of impeccable talents while doing what he does best.

This wild card always delivers. After a new collaboration with Half Empty on his Buygore label and a reggae-influenced track featuring Barrington Levy, this set is definitely going to bring new some new sounds. Spring Awakening is a festival unlike any other. This is mainly because of the people who attend it. For the fifth time this family will come together embracing their shared love for the sounds that are brought by so much talent. Let the good vibes ring as they always do as the anticipated weekend approaches! Catch you all in Chi-Town.
