RVDIOVCTIVE Returns to Detroit with Movement Warm-Up

Detroit's Movement Festival is quickly lodging itself in my psyche as the festival for the "cool kids"; for the people who will always and inevitably know more tracks than I do, who are able to reference the time they were at a party in a European basement somewhere with a DJ whose name is probably a little too difficult to pronounce, or who simply have been steeped in dance music culture for far longer than myself. This isn't to say you should be intimidated by Movement (though I ultimately am, just a little a bit), but rather than you should take Movement as an opportunity to explore both the cutting edge of techno and house music, as well as the foundations of the scene itself. RVDIOVCTIVE falls into any one of the groups of aforementioned Movement "cool kids" and is almost certainly more qualified than most to throw a Movement pre-party. This isn't to say that any other pre-parties aren't going to be good, nor does it suggest that there aren't plenty of other Movement parties outside of the festival to attend (like our Shipfaced Boat Party, *cough, cough*), but RVDIOVCTIVE is composed of veterans of the industry who can deliver the vibe of Movement in a smaller, more intimate setting, delivering the music you want to hear in the atmosphere in which it was meant to be heard.   RVDIOVCTIVE has thrown a ridiculous number of parties that we've covered here, from their shows in Miami (which usually anticipate some of the biggest artists of the respective summer) to their coastal tours. Just search RVDIOVCTIVE. You'll see. On May 25, 2017, RVDIOVCTIVE takes over the Grasshopper Underground (colloquially known as GHop), which, according to their own website, is basically a basement in Ferndale, Michigan. And this is a positive attribute. Despite the unassuming description, world class dance music acts consistently take the decks, including Eats Everything, Kerri Chandler, Justin Martin, Skream, Shiba San, Dennis Ferrer, Claude VonStroke, Steve Lawler, to name a few. This year, RVDIOVCTIVE is bringing resident Devon James to spin alongside fellow New Yorker Rufus Gibson, as well as some of Detroit's best, including Country Club Disco's Sonya Alvarez, Third Ear Records's Haz Mat,  and a special b2b featuring Gateo and Mona Black.

If you're in Detroit on the Thursday before Movement, you're almost certainly looking for the best pre-parties before the festival. RVDIOVCTIVE's Warm-up is the perfect start to the festival, a great introduction to the RVDIOVCTIVE crew and is certainly the best thing you could do with your Thursday evening in Detroit. So with that in mind, join us for the free RVDIOVCTIVE Movement Warm-Up party this Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Grasshopper Underground! We'll see you there! 18301380_1742173655847411_4700047702462192266_n
