Arty Is Coming To NYC As Alpha 9

Tuesday, April 04, 2017

NYC-based Trance & Progressive promoter Esscala is gracing us with yet another stellar lineup, this time bringing Arty back to the Big Apple, under his brand new alias Alpha 9. The young Russian producer will be stopping by Brooklyn's Output on Thursday, May 4th to showcase what he calls a more progressive side of his artistry, and we anticipate his set will be full of recent and upcoming releases under his new side project. The Alpha 9 track 'Only Good Mistake,' produced with Koven, throws back to a more classic Arty feel, with its progressive vibes and haunting Trance vocals. It was featured on the recent Anjunabeats Volume 13. As a longtime believer in the genius of Arty, I've had the chance to see him multiple times, most memorably during a surprise set in Shanghai in 2012 after falling in love with his music earlier that year. The decision to embark on an Alpha 9 tour is likely welcomed heartily by diehard Arty fans, some of whom may feel his exploration into new sounds shies too far from his Trance roots. Last Spring, a few fans not-so-graciously vocalized their discontent during an alleged "classics only" set that he played in Australia. The move coincides with other prominent Trance acts opening up new avenues for their creativity under alternate monikers; both W&W and Sander van Doorn premiered sets at Ultra as NYWR and Purple Haze, respectively. Arty is joined by fellow Anjunabeats label mate Spencer Brown, who was featured on Above & Beyond's Group Therapy Guestmix. Early bird tickets have already sold out, so grab a general admission ticket while you can! As Armin van Buuren once said when introducing Arty for a set at ASOT 550, "No party…without this guy."
