5 Things You Need to Know About Our Shipfaced Boat Party in Detroit

It's that time of year again. Movement weekend is almost upon us and this year we went to great lengths to make sure that this year's Shipfaced Boat Party is the best one yet. Don't get me wrong last year was fun, but this year is going to be off the chain. We spared no expense for you guys so we want you to come prepared. If you haven't bought tickets already, peep our Resident Advisor page here.

5. Hit the ATM Beforehand

As the riverboat goes up and down the US/CA border, cell reception is limited at some points. This means that the credit card machines for the bar don't always work. We're also only accepting cash for the merch table. Yeah. You heard it right. We got merch this year! This year we have a fully stocked table on the lower deck with all kinds of goodies. The merch table will open as soon as boarding has completed and will feature gear by Onlythebeat, Golf Clap, Country Club Disco, and Soul Goodman! We are also accepting pre-orders for those who want to skip the line or who need a credit card option. Look out for a post in the Shipfaced Facebook group for details including images, pricing, and pre-order options.

4. Gift Bags With a Bunch of Free $*%&

This year we're doing gift bags for all of our guests. Each gift bag contains a pair of foam earplugs, a free pair of Onlythebeat + Soul Goodman Sunglasses and a few other little surprises. Additionally, 10 lucky winners will find a ticket to the Country Club Disco + FK A Genre Afterparty with Golf Clap, Mija, Billy Kenny and Eyes Everywhere. All gift bags can be redeemed at the merch booth as soon as we depart.

3. Special Guests

This year we are proud to have two special guest DJ's on board with us. Soul Goodman will be playing on the top deck during boarding, and we have a surprise set on the lower deck by EDC Co-founder and Holyship legend, Mr. Koolaid.

About Mr. Koolaid

Born in St. Louis and educated in London at the Saint Martin's School of Art, credited with kick starting the American rave scene, Stephen, AKA Mr. Koolaid, promoted his first event in 1987 at the age of 14. On NYE 2007/08, Stephen once again, teamed up with Gary Richards aka Destructo, and helped with the first HARD music festival. Continuing with his string of firsts and pushing boundaries, in 2016 Stephen was credited with throwing the first AR rave in the world.

About Soul Goodman

In just two short years Soul Goodman has grown his footprint to festivals including Ultra Music festival and Charivari. The resume doesn't end here however, Soul Goodman has also graced the decks of some of the top underground venues in Detroit, Chicago, Miami, New York as well as Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. His keen musical taste and strident business savvy led him to the Grasshopper Underground where he curates one of Detroit’s most successful monthly events.

2. Make Sure You Board the Right Boat

Last year we had a few unlucky souls board the wrong boats and miss out. This year we are going to some extra lengths to make sure that everyone ends up exactly where they're supposed to be. This, however, starts with you. Our boat has a huge banner that reads Onlythebeat on its side. You can't miss it. Be sure to get there early with your photo ID. If you have purchased your tickets from somewhere other than our Resident Advisor page, or if you have purchased tickets for a group of people, you need to fill out this Name Change form here. Only people with a valid photo ID whose names are on our registry will be allowed to board. This is a 21+ event. If your name on your ID does not match your ticket and you haven't filled out the name change form, we will delay your boarding until everyone else has had the chance to board and will assess a $5 onsite name change fee. Additionally, or staff reserves the right to deny entry to anyone who does not have proper identification. We will begin boarding at 11:00 AM and will depart at 12:00PM SHARP. We will be boarding in 4 distinct groups: Group 1: People whose tickets match their ID's Group 2: People who have filled out our online Name Change Form Group 3: People who have not filled out the Name Change Form ($5 boarding fee) Group 4: Door Ticket Purchasers ($100 boarding fee) Boarding is at 1340 Atwater St. Detroit, MI, 48207.

1. There are still a few ways to get on board if you haven't already purchased your ticket

Haven't gotten your ticket yet? Missed out on the early tier pricing? I know they're expensive AF this year. Sorry about that. They had to be to cover all the awesome stuff we're doing to upgrade the experience this year. While normally I'd say you snooze you lose, there *MIGHT* be a few extra ways you can get on board.

A. Hit up the DJ's and see if they have a discount link

While the remaining tickets aren't cheap and there's less than 10 of them available, the DJ's playing the party all have discount links. Hit them up and show some support (and get cheaper tickets while you're at it).

B. Cross your fingers and hope there are door tickets

Every year there are a few spots that might open up due to unforeseen circumstances. People get too intoxicated the night before and don't show up to board, some don't come with correct identification, spots that were earmarked for guest listed people open up last minute, etc. For this reason we MAY offer a limited number of door tickets. Door tickets are $100 and are first, come, first serve. Door tickets will only be available at 11:50 after all ticketed passengers have been accounted for.
